Senator Dawn Arnold Joins the Independent Senators Group

OTTAWA, May 2, 2025 – Today, New Brunswick Senator Dawn Arnold announced her affiliation to the Independent Senators Group (ISG).
With over three decades of experience in municipal government, community development and publishing, Senator Arnold is renowned for her leadership and her work in public service. In 2016, she became the first woman to be elected mayor of Moncton, New Brunswick. During her mandate, which ended when she was appointed to the Senate, she contributed to her city’s rapid growth while fostering a culture of inclusivity. Senator Arnold is also a longtime advocate for arts and culture. For 15 years, she served as President of Moncton’s Frye Festival, an event which highlights both francophone and anglophone authors.
Senator Arnold has been widely recognized for her contributions over the course of her career. She was awarded the Order of New Brunswick, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, and the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French government.

Senator Arnold was nominated to the Senate on March 7, 2025. Her addition to the Independent Senators Group brings the total membership to 45.
